Match Comments: The St. Joseph Panthers defeated the Vikings of Downs Tri-Valley, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16 in the first game of the 8th grade Class 3A volleyball tournament. The victory propels the Panthers into the semifinal match against the winner of the Pleasant Plains/Deer Creek-Mackinaw match at 1:00 p.m. later today. The victory by the Panthers avenges an earlier loss the Panthers had againist Tri-Valley. This match was very well played in front of a large crowd. Tri-Valley took the first set 25-22 but St. Joseph came back strong in sets 2 and 3 to take the match. Tri-Valley closes out their season with a terrific 19-5 record while St. Joseph will take a 20-3 record ito the semifinal contest. Congratulations to both teams.
