| Match Comments: In the Championship match, the Cavaliers of Normal Kingsley met the Indians of Minooka. The Cavaliers out together an almost flawless first set. They started the match on a serving roll by #23 Rachel Zimmerman who had 8 straight service points and three aces. #17 Amber Nanni dominated the net and gave Kinglsey a huge spark by attacking the net and placing her kills on Minooka’s side. Her biggest kill was on the set point right down the middle. The second set saw Minooka pick up their game and take advantage of a couple of passing errors by Kinglsey. The Indians kept the set close and #19 Maria Ruettinger tied the match at 13-13. But Kingsley fought back and #24 Hannah Bach took over the serve. Hannah served 11 consecutive service points with 3 aces and once again Kingsley used their middle attack of Amber Nanni with the kill to take the set. This is Normal Kingsley and Coach Tony Rio’s first 7-4A state championship. |
