Match Comments: In the Consolation match, the Comets of Quincy faced the Panthers of Manteno. The Panthers jumped out to an early lead on the serving of #17 Leah Selk who had three aces out of four serves to start the match. Quincy stayed close the whole set and both teams seemed to struggle with their serving. Bouncing side-outs back and fourth throughout the set. #28 Madison Spalding took the set for Manteno with two consecutive service points.
The second set saw Quincy take the early lead. The Comets were up 20-9 in the first set when #5 Taylor Gilliam took over for the Panthers. Taylor served 11 straight service points and tied the set at 20-20. But after the side-out, #15 Callie Lambert served the next four straight service points for Quincy and ended the set with an Ace. With the match tied at two sets a piece the teams headed into the third set which was all Quincy. The Comets came out fired up in the final set and saw service points from all of their players. #14 Sidney Heck dominated the net and had a big kill to give Quincy an 18-6 lead. She then rotated back to serve and brought the match home with 7 consecutive service points ending on 2 big aces. Congratulations to both teams on a great season.
