Match Comments: Lexington started the championship match by serving but a four hit call gave the serve and a sideout point to HF. Two consecutive kills by Hettinger gave the Knights a 3-0 lead but a powerful kill by Bridgette Sims made the score 3-1. L got a point but a block at the net by Claire Raycraft made it 4-2. A service error by HF made it 4-3 and then there was a net foul by HF for a tie at four. Alexis Clemons got a kill for HF to make it 5-4. HF served out of bounds for another tie this time at 5. Clemons had another kill from the left hand side that made it 6-5 in favor of HF. Lexington came back with a kill of its own courtesy of Maggie Hayes to tie it at 6. Sydney Freed found a hole in the HF defense with a winner to give Lexington its first lead at 7-6. Clemons showed her power again with a kill to tie it at 7. She followed that with an ace serve to make it 8-7. Hettinger had a kill down the line for a 9-7 HF lead. Maggie Hayes hit a winner for L to make it 9-8. Hettinger scored a winner for HF to make it 10-8. However, a net serve got a sideout for Lexington making it 10-9. Sims got a dink hit to tie it at 10. She followed that with a kill at the net for an 11-10 Lexington lead. L's next serve went out of bounds to tie it at 11. Sims had another kill for a sideout and a 12-11 Lexington lead. Taylor Winterland found a hole in the HF defense for a winner and a 13-11 lead. L's next serve was long so L led 13-12 but HF followed suit with a long serve to push L lead to 2, 14-12. Clemons had a kill to make it 14-13. Sims' kill attempt went into the net to tie it at 14. HF served long to give a point to Lexington, 15-14. Hayes blocked Clemons' kill at the net to give Lexington a 16-14 lead. Holy Family called a timeout. A mis-hit by HF gave another point to L, 17-14 but Clemons had another kill to cut the lead to 17-15. Ace serve by Jacklyn Rasor made it 17-16. Hayes had another kill of her own and Lexington got a sideout and an 18-16 lead with the serve. However a net serve gave it right back to HF 18-17. A net violation by Lexington tied it at 18 and Lexington called a timeout. Clemons' serve went into the net so Lexington led 19-18 with the serve. Hayes had a net violation on her kill attempt so the score was tied again at 19. Hayes got a winner for a 20-19 Lexington lead. Sims had a kill to make it 21-19. Sims found a hole for a winner to make it 22-19. Taylor Leake got a winner to make it 23-19. HF took a timeout to stop the Lexington momentum. After the timeout, a great save by Lexington led to a winner for a 24-19 lead. Maggie Hayes served the potential game winning point but a hit into the net gave HF life at 24-20. Two consecutive service winners by Jordan Wooden made the score 24-22. Lexington took a timeout. A kill by Sims and a lift call on the return gacve Lexington the point for a 25-22 game one victory.

Holy Family started game two with the serve but it went long and Lexington had a 1-0 lead. A back row kill by Clemons tied it at one. Lexington hit out of bounds for a 2-1 HF lead. A long volley resulted in a kill by Sims to tie it at 2. A back tip by Freed gave L a lead at 3-2. A service winner by Laura Miller moved the score to 4-2. Another ace by Miller and the score moved to 5-2. A bad pass by HF resulted in a winner for L and the score was 6-2. A lift call on a kill by Sims and Lexington led 7-2. HF had a net violation and Lexington led 8-2. Holy Family called a timeout. Miller continued her excellent serving with an ace for a 9-2 lead. HF finally was able to set it to Clemons who hammered it down for a sideout and made the score 9-3. Sims had a tip to the middle for a Lexington sideout and it was 10-3 L lead. Sims had a kill attempt go long after a long volley to make it 10-4 but HF served long to make it 11-4. HF hit out of bounds for a point for Lexington 12-4. L then served long to make it 12-5. Miscommunication caused Lexington to miss a return to make it 12-6 in favor of the Minutemen. An ace by Clemons made it 12-7. Her next serve was long to make it 13-7 in favor of Lexington. A great set by Freed led to a kill by Hayes to make it 14-7. Hettinger had a kill down the line to make it 14-8. Another kill by Hayes resulted in Clemons' return going long so Lexington led 15-8. Freed had a great save at the net for a winner and a 16-8 Lexington lead. A tip by Hayes hung on the net but fell on Lexington's side to give HF a sideout and make it 16-9. Clemons' kill attempt went outside the net to make it 17-9. A long volley resulted in a near miss hit by Simms but it fell in the middle of the HF players for a winner and an 18-9 lead. A hitting error by Sims gave the sideout to HF, 18-10. Two consecutive ace serves by Hettinger made the score 18-12 in favor of Lexington. Lexington called a timeout. A great block by Sims on Clemons' kill moved the score to 19-12. Another kill by Sims and Lexington led 20-12. An ace serve by Miller and it was 21-12. Clemons had a vicious kill for a sideout to make it 21-13. Sydney Freed came up with a dink over the net for a Lexington sideout and a 22-13 lead. Clemons had a kill returned only to go the opposite way on her next attempt to make it 22-14. A net violation on HF after a great save resulted in a Lexington sideout and a 23-14 Lexington lead. Holy Family called a timeout. After the timeout Clemons had yet another kill to make it 23-15. Hettinger's kill was blocked out of bounds by Lexington to make it 23-16. HF hit into the net to make it 24-16. Winterland served for the match. A net violation by HF gave the State Championship to Lexington!
