Game Comments: The second quarterfinal match-up pitted the Cardinals of Warrensburg-Latham against the Dragons of Hillsboro. The Dragons were first to settle into the state game and took the early lead, but the Cardinals battled back in the first quarter and #2 Jarius Ingram drained a baseline three to cut the lead to 3. The second quarter was a tale of runs. Warrensburg came out with a 9-0 run to take the lead, but Hillsboro had a 9-0 run at the end of the quarter. The Dragons got great second chance looks at the basket from the offensive rebounding of #32 Donovan Moore and took a 3 point lead into the locker-room at the half.
The second half saw several lead changes. The Cardinals took the lead and saw a quick momentum change for the game in the beginning of the third. After 42 picked up his fourth foul in the quarter for Hillsboro, Warrensburg was able to drive the lane and dish underneath for the easy lay-ups. Ingram hooked up with #15 Joe Gustafson and #21 AJ Speasl several times in the half. Hillsboro moved away from their offense and Warrensburg took advantage. The final quarter of the game was a battle for both teams, but the Dragons were able to find the basket more and outscored the Cardinals 16-8 to end the game. Leading scorer for the game was #32 Donovan Moore with 20 points. He went 6-8 form the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Congratulations to Warrensburg Latham on a great season. Hillsboro will play Calumet Park in the 5:00 semi-final game tonight.
