Game Comments: In the first quarterfinal of the day, the Junior Redbird faced off against the Kays of Kankakee JHS. Kankakee got off to a quick start behind some tough defense and quickness around the basket. Tyler Hiller scored 6 of his 12 points in the first quarter for the Kays. Alton rallied in the second quarter, holding the Junior Redbirds to 2 points. Alton cut the lead to 1 as both teams went in to the locker room. Kankakee regained momentum in the third quarter behind solid shooting at the free throw line from Charles Weathersby III. Weathersby scored 7 of his 11 points in the third quarter. The pace picked up in the fourth quarter by both teams. Defense was tough on both sides of the floor and both teams fought for each rebound. Andrew Jones and Moory Woods each dropped in 3 point baskets for the Kays to cut the Kankakee lead. The Kays maintained control of the ball and the final buzzer sounded. Andrew Jones led the Junior Redbirds with 12 points. Tyler Hiller led the Kays With 12 points.
