Game Comments: In the first semi-final of the night, the Eagles of Matteson Colin Powell met the Wolverines of Park Forest Forest Trail. Both teams had met earlier in the regular season with Colin Powell taking the victory. Park Forest jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter. Nathaniel Reese kick-started the Wolverine offense in the first quarter with 6 points. The Eagles answered back in the second quarter moving quickly to the basket. Mikal Robinson and Dejuan McClendon combined for 13 points in the second quarter for Colin Powell and brought the Eagles to within 3 points going in to the half-time break. Both teams continued to attack the lane on offense. Antron Washington dropped in 6 points for the Wolverines in the third quarter to keep the game close. It was Robinson who pushed the Eagles in to a slight lead as the third quarter closed scoring 4 points in the third. The final quarter continued to see Forest Trail score from inside and outside. Clifton Jimerson scored 7 points for the Wolverines in the fourth quarter and Vashawn Sims hit a big 3 point basket to put the Wolverines on top. Carl Williams and McClendon both contributed 5 points each for the Eagles in the fourth. The Eagles shot well from the line late in the fourth but it was not enough to take over the lead.
Robinson finished with 14 for the Eagles. Jimerson finished with 15 for the Wolverines.
Matteson Colin Powell will play in the Consolation game on Thursday.
Park Forest Forest Trail will play in the Championship game on Thursday. |
