Game Comments: The 8-2A championship match-up was a repeat of the 7-2A semifinal game last year between the Blueboys of Carthage and the Wildcats of Decatur Robertson. The Wildcats took the early lead on the outside shooting of #1 Armon Brummett and never looked back. Their high pressure defense never allowed Carthage to get into any kind of rhythm in the first half. Decatur rolled to a 21 point lead at the half. But it was a story of two halves for the Blueboys as they came out of the locker-room fired up. They put the pressure on the Wildcats and cut the lead to 8 in the fourth quarter, but even though Carthage held Decatur to nine points in the final quarter the lead Robertson had built throughout the game was too much to overcome.
Leading scorer for the game was #23 Cameron Currie of Decatur and # 11 Connor Artman of Carthage who both had 16 points for the game. Both teams saw points from seven different players. This was Decatur Robertson’s third consecutive state 8-2A title. Congratulations to both teams on a great season.
