Game Comments: The first semi-final match saw the Blueboys of Carthage face off against the Spartans of Madison. Carthage took the early lead. Madison battled back, but Carthage took a 15-10 lead into the second quarter. Seconds into the quarter the Spartans took over the lead using their press to force turnovers and then converting those turnovers into points. The teams went into the locker-room tied at the half.
The second half was a reverse of the 2nd quarter. Carthage’s pressure caused turnovers that they converted into points. They outscored Madison 20-10 in the second half and held them to two points in the fourth quarter and went 9-12 from the line to increase their lead. Leading scorer for the game was Connor Artman for Carthage with 16 points. He went 12-16 from the line. Carthage will play for the state championship game on Thursday. Madison will play in the 3rd place game at 6:00.
