Game Comments: The final quarterfinal matchup pitted defending champions Decatur Robertson against Bloomington Holy Trinity. The Saints of Holy Trinity took a small lead on the Wildcats of Decatur in the first quarter. But the Wildcats drained 5 three point baskets in the second quarter and had a quarter high 23 points to take an 11 point lead into the halftime.
The Saints never gave up and continued to battle in the second half. Holy Trinity cut a 20 point lead by Decatur Robertson to 5 in the fourth quarter with 4 minutes to play in the game. Decatur Robertson slowed down their offense to run time off the clock and managed to bring the lead back to nine, but #24 James Morris hit a three to with 2 minutes to play to bring it back to six. Robertson turned the ball over on the inbound and the Saints capitalized on it to bring the lead to 4 points. Morris at the line with 41.8 seconds hit both free throws to cut the lead to 2 points. #10 Ray Neal hit one of two to take the lead back up to 3 with thirty second to play but a long three attempt by the Saints came up short. The Saints fouled Robertson, but they missed the free throw and the Saints got several looks to tie the game but were unable to convert and the Wildcats advance.
Congratulations on a great season for the Holy Trinity Saints. Leading scorer of the James Morris for Holy Trinity with 22 points. Armon Brummett had 18 for the Wildcats going 4-6 from the free throw line. Decatur Robertson will face Peoria St. Vincent de Paul in the final semi-final game tonight.
