Match Comments: In the second quarter-final of the day, the Knights of Raymond Lincolnwood took on the Eagles of Liberty. This was a tightly contested match. In the first set, Raymond Lincolnwood started out with some very strong serving. Kyra Shull had two aces early for the Knights. The Eagles responded with 2 aces from Courtney Lefringhouse. It was Shull who took over serving duties again for the Eagles and rattled off another 2 aces extending the lead for Liberty. The net play of Paige Knuffman and Taryn Roe also contributed to the Eagle Lead. A kill from Katelyn Payne sparked an offensive comeback from the Knights. This kick-started a Knight comeback that was led by the serving of Shull. The score went back and forth as both teams looked to sloe out. A kill from Knuffman put the Eagles on top. It was answered by a kill from Shull and this took the Knights to a first set victory. In the second set, Raymond Lincolnwood got out early. Both teams stepped up their offensive play at the net. Roe and Trisha Horner dominated the net for the Eagles. On the other side of the net, it was Katelyn Payne who led the Knights at the net. Payne put the Knights up near the end of set 2 with a great kill. Smart serving from the Eagles put them ahead late in the set and Roe finished off the set with a block. In the third set, Kenzy Wagner put the Eagles in a great position by serving up 4 aces early in the set. Some key kills by Payne kept the Knights in the match. Payton Anderson answered with a key kill that put the ball back into the hands of the Eagles. The Knights played some great defense near the end of set 3 and Payne contributed a key kill near the end of the match. Momentum swung back to the Eagle side of the court and Roe finished the match with a kill to end the match.

Congratulations to Raymond Lincolnwood on an outstanding season!

Liberty moves on to the semi-finals later today.
