| Match Comments: The first match of the night saw the Eagles of Buckley St. John's take on the Falcons of Metamora St. Mary's. The match went back and forth to start as the teams traded points and side-outs. Metamora St. Mary's took the lead on the serving of #12 Addie Heinzemann, but the Eagles rallied right back on the serving of #16 Kaitlyn Weber. #13 Sara Beth DuBois led the Falcons to take the set with and ace. The second set saw the battle once again with Buckley St. John's taking a slight lead on the serving of #27 Kelsie Schroeder with 2 aces in the set. But Heinzemann stepped up again to give Metamora St. Mary's the lead that they would not relinquish. St. John's made a run to cut the lead to two at 23-21 on the serving of #11 Samantha DeBella, but the deficit was too much to overcome. This is Metamora's first third place trophy. Congratulations to both teams on a great match and wonderful season. |
