| Match Comments: The second quarterfinal match saw the Titans of Tri-County take on the Blackhawks of Hardin Calhoun. Hardin Calhoun jumped out to an early lead in the first set and were led by #25 Grace Baalman serving and at the net. The Blackhawks would set Baalman everywhere on the floor. Hardin controlled the first set receiving service points from 4 different players and would never relinquish the lead. The second set saw a different team for Tri-County. They were able to put together several service strings and saw great net play from #22 Alison Smith. Calhoun made a run at the end with serving from #27 Kyleigh Presley, but Tri-County was able to hold on to the set. The final set of the match saw the Titans take an early lead on the serving of #15 Andrea Stiff. Stiff’s unique serving style caused problems for the Blackhawks and she was able to get several aces in her string of six service points. The Black hawks got away from their attacking offense in the final set and the Titans took advantage with the net play of Smith. Congratulations to both teams on a great season. Tri-County will play Buckley St. John’s in the first semifinal match at 1:00. |
