| Match Comments: The first quarterfinal of the day saw the Eagles of Buckley St. John’s take on the Flashes of Franklin. Both teams had state final jitters to start and took time to settle into their play. Buckley St. John and the second round of serves saw key points from #14 Elena Shields who had 5 aces and 11 service points for the set. They were also led by #16 Kaitlyn Weber and #27 Kelsie Schroeder at the net. Franklin stayed close throughout the set and got service points from #10 Kilee Smith, but were unable to regain the lead. In the second set the Flashes came out hot. Taking a quick lead on the net play of #23 Anley Gerdes and the serving of several players such as #3 Hayley Jaggar. Once #27 Schroeder came back to serve the Eagles took the lead and never relinquished it. At the net #20 Bree Davis gave some key kills and block to help the Eagles to the quarterfinal victory. Congratulations to both teams on a great match and fantastic season. The Eagles of Buckley St. John’s will return to play at 1:00 today. |
