Match Comments: In the Championship match, the Panthers of Edwarsville Liberty took on the Indians of Channahon. This was a back-and-forth battle from the first serve to the final whistle. Both teams traded service points and took advantage of open areas on tips. In the middle of the first set, Kate Martin went on a serving run, rattling off 4 consecutive service points and 2 aces for the Panthers. The Panthers turned to Martin again late in the set as she served 3 service points to take the Panthers to the end of the first set. Rachel Pranger had 3 kills and a block and Martin had 2 blocks for the Panthers. Celeste Seidel and Rocky Periner each had 2 kills for the Indians in the first set. In the second set, the pace was even. Each team played defense well and that resulted in some outstanding rallies. The passing was solid on both sides of the net and both teams had to step up their net play. Pranger had 3 kills and 2 blocks for the Panthers. She was joined by Megan Woll with 2 kills and Martin with 2 kills and 2 blocks. The Indians kept pace with their net play. Holly Bonde had 3 kils and a block and Olivia Klank had 2 blocks. As both teams edged toward match point, it was Martin who ended the match with a well placed tip. Jordyn Henricks led the Panthers with 10 service points. Taylor Baranski led the Indians with 8 service points.
