Match Comments: In the first quarterfinal of the day, the Wildcats of Mattoon met the Panthers of Pekin Edison. The net attack of the Panthers quickly put the Wildcats on their heels. Hannah Thompson had 6 kills and 2 blocks for the Panthers in the first set. The Panthers also turned to the serving of Megan Kelch who rattled off 5 consecutive points. The Wildcats did their part at the net behind kills from Paige Arthur and Abrienne Lee. In the second set, the Panthers continued to put the pressure on the Wildcats picking up their net play. Thompson contributed another 7 kills in the second set and Halle Stoller cranked 3 kills in the second for the Panthers. The Wildcats picked up their net game as well. Paige Arthur had 2 kills and Abrienne Lee, Isabella Coffey, and Olivia Gordon each had a kill for the Wildcats. The Panthers finished off the match with consistently tough serves.
