Match Comments: In the second semi-final contest in Class 2A, the Saints of Bloomington Holy Trinity knocked off the Lewistown Indians two games to none. The first set, at least early on, was a back and forth battle with both teams doing their best to try and control the net. Eventually however, it was the savvy frontline play of the Saints that wore down Lewistown en route to a 25-14 game one victory. Game two saw Bloomington explode in a hurry, thanks to their pair of aces Jennie Connor and Erika Moore. The two Saint standouts combined for an impressive nine aces in both games, as well as 22 service total points. That combo alone proved to be too strong for Lewistown in game two leading to a final of 25-8. Mackenzie Goldring was a standout for the Indians, as #2 tallied three aces and six service points for Lewistown.
The Saints now find themselves in the 7-2A state championship game this coming Tuesday, March 12th against Saturday's previous winner in Danville Schlarman. Game time for that contest will begin at 6:45 p.m. The third place match preceding the title game will feature Lewistown against Colchester West Prairie. That game will begin at 5:30 p.m.
