Game Comments: The 7-4A championship showcased the Meteors of Mokena and the Junior Potters of Morton JHS. In front to the capacity gym, the two teams faced off. Mokena was first on the scoreboard, but Morton was quick to answer. The first quarter saw several momentum swings, but Morton ended up on top 15-9. Offensive boards gave Morton second chance points and they built on their lead in the second quarter. #33 Courtney Jones was a beast on the boards and worked her way in to almost every rebound and fired the ball back out to the guards. Morton worked the ball around the horn for the last shot of the half and #23 Lindsey Dullard drain a long two to help Morton take a 20-9 lead into the half.
At the start of the second half Mokena ran a nice backdoor pass to put their first point on the board and cut the lead to double digits. After several plays down the court, Morton answered with a steal and layup. Second chance points continue to propel Morton on the scoreboard. The fourth quarter saw Mokena press, but Morton was able to move the ball up the court and pad their lead. With four minutes to play, Morton had a 12 point lead that they would not relinquish.
Leading scorer for the game was Lindsey Dullard with 15 points.
Congratulations to Mokena on a great season. Congratulations to Morton JHS on their second 7-4A state title.
