Game Comments: The drive for an undefeated season and an 8th grade championship to go with last year's 7th grade championship remained alive for the Monticello Sages as they defeated Dolton Lincoln 38-21 to advance to the title game of the 3A tournament. Monticello will take their 27-0 record into the championship game against the winner of the Eureka/Quincy Blessed Sacrament contest. Monticello jumped to an early 15-6 lead after one period and extended the lead to 24-11 at the half. Tionne Colyer, who scored 15 points for the Eagles, and Tymia Wallace, who chipped in 6 points, both fouled out in the third quarter and any hope of an Eagles comeback ended. Tatum McCall scored a game high 21 points to lead the Sages. Congratulations to both teams.
