Game Comments: The Eagles of Dolton Lincoln improved their record to 18-1 with a thrilling 35-33 victory over the Warriors of Germantown Hills. With the victory, Lincoln will now play at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 18 against the winner of the Auburn/Monticello contest. The Auburn vs. Monticello game will be played on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Please refer to the IESA scoreboard for the latest updated schedule that has been changed due to the Saturday weather conditions. Lincoln led by four at the end of the first quarter, by five at halftime, and seemed to be in control of the game as they led by seven, 29-22, heading into the final stanza. However, the Warriors would not quit as they held the Eagles without a field goal in the fourth quarter. Lincoln scored all of their points in the 4th quarter at the charity stripe as they made six of their eight free throws in the 4th quarter. Tionne Colyer, who led all scorers with 22 points, nailed three of her four free throws in the 4th quarter; Kiara Jefferies made one of two, and the biggest two free throws of the game were by Tymia Wallace. With the Eagles holding a slim 33-30 lead with about 20 seconds left in the game, Wallace calmly sank both free throws to give the Eagles a five point cushion, 35-30. The Warriors countered that with a three point field goal from Alison Lee with :06 left in the game to cut the lead to 35-33. Germantown Hills called a time out but Lincoln was able to inbound the ball and run out the clock to secure their victory. The win is just Lincoln's second girls basketball victory in the history of the IESA girls tournament. Congratulations to both teams.
