| Game Comments: The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes used a balanced attack to defeat the Monticello Sages, 32-13 and in doing so captured the championship trophy in the 2012 IESA 8th grade Class 3A girls basketball tournament. T-Town jumped on Monticello early and raced out to a 12-3 lead after one quarter and they extended the 9 point lead to 14 after the second quarter. The Wooden Shoes played very patiently in the second half as their defense and ball control simply did not allow Monticello back in the game. Shelby Thompson scored a game high 12 points for T-Town who finish their season with a 27-1 victory. This is the second 8th grade Class 3A title for Teutopolis who also brought home the championship trophy in 2009. Monticello was attempting to win both the 7th grade and 8th grade titles in the same year but the Sages simply could not match the Wooden Shoes. Monticello closes out an excellent season with a final record of 25 wins and 3 losses. Congratulations to both teams. |
