Game Comments: The Odell Rams secured a berth in the semifinals of the 7th grade Class 1A state tournament by defeating Cissna Park, 28-18 in the 3rd quarterfinal game of the day. Odell, which lost an overtime heartbreaker in the 2009 7th grade tournament, improved their record to 20-2 and will now meet the winner of Decatur Holy Family and Bartonville Monroe at 6:30 later today. Cissna Park held a slim one point lead after the 1st quarter but the Rams outscored the Wildcats in each of the last three quarters to gain the victory. Ashley Harfst, who led Odell with 15 points came up big in the 4th quarter as she stole the ball and took it in for a layup with three minutes left in the game to extend the lead to eight, 24-16. Then, with 90 seconds left, she made a move to the basket, was fouled and converted the free throw for a conventional three point play to give the Rams a 27-18 lead. Errin Hodges added a free throw for the Rams to round out the scoring. Cissna Park, which was led in scoring by Samantha Hasselbring with 8 points, closes their season with a 12-11 record. Congratulations to both teams.
