| 2026 IESA State Wrestling Tournament Set for March 13-14 at Northern Illinois University

The Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) is excited to announce the 45th annual Boys State Wrestling Tournament, taking place March 13-14, 2026, at the Convocation Center on the campus of Northern Illinois University. With over 600 wrestlers representing 169 schools from across the state, this year's tournament promises to be an exhilarating showcase of young athletic talent.
This marks the sixth year of the tournament's 2-class system, which divides schools based on 7-8 grade enrollment. Of the 233 schools that entered the state series, half will compete in Class A and half in Class AA.
Event Schedule:
Friday, March 13:
Doors open to the public at 10:00 AM
Wrestling begins at 11:30 AM
All wrestlers will compete in two matches
Event concludes around 7:00 PM
Saturday, March 14:
Doors open at 8:00 AM
Wrestling resumes at 9:00 AM
Semifinals begin at approximately 11:00 AM
Championship bouts kick off at 5:15 PM on four mats
Admission fees are set at $15.00 for a single day, and children below kindergarten age will be admitted free of charge. Tickets can be purchased on-site at the ticket office, which opens at 9:00 AM on Friday and 7:00 AM on Saturday, or online HERE

We are honored to have Brady Knop and Ted Sieckowski serve as the Grand Marshals for this year's event. The previous year's champions included Gibson City GCMS in Class A and Homer Glen Homer in Class AA. Notably, Westmont JHS leads this year's Class A qualifiers with 13 wrestlers, while DeKalb Huntley boasts 14 qualifiers in Class AA.
This tournament marks the 24th year that the Convocation Center has hosted the IESA State Wrestling Tournament, making NIU the proud venue for the event for the 28th consecutive year.
