Heat and Hydration Reminders

As we begin the fall season for IESA activities, member schools are reminded there are a number of heat and hydration-related links on both the IESA and NFHS websites that can be reviewed by coaches and administrators in for the fall sports seasons. The hot and humid weather we have had this summer has carried into the start of the IESA fall seasons. While the IESA does not have a specific policy regarding practice during extreme heat conditions, coaches are strongly encouraged to use good judgment when scheduling and conducting practices. Please consult the Heat Index Chart. When hosting games the IESA recommends that host school provide water for both teams and officials. If water cannot be provided it is helpful to notify both visiting teams and officials to bring their own.
