2,300 Runners to Compete in the 2025 IESA State Final Cross-Country Meet This Weekend

Normal, Illinois — On Saturday, October 18, Maxwell Park in Normal will host the highly anticipated 2025 Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) State Final Cross-Country Meet, featuring a total of 2,300 runners from 330 different schools. This year marks a significant turnout, with 495 schools entering the state series.
The sectional qualifying meets took place on October 10th and 11th, with eight sectionals held statewide for all classes: Class 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A. From these competitions, the top three teams in each sectional, along with the top seven individuals not on one of the top three teams, earned their spots in the state meet.
This year marks the 46th anniversary of the boys cross-country state series and the 45th for the girls. The event has evolved through several classifications, with the addition of a four-class system introduced in 2023 following previous formats that included one, two, and three-class systems.
The races will take place on the scenic two-mile course at Maxwell Park, located adjacent to Normal Parkside Junior High School. The schedule for the eight races is as follows:
- 9:15 a.m.- Class 1A Girls
- 10:00 a.m.- Class 1A Boys
- 10:45 a.m.- Class 2A Girls
- 11:30 a.m.- Class 2A Boys
- 12:15 p.m. - Class 3A Girls
- 1:00 p.m. - Class 3A Boys
- 1:45 p.m.- Class 4A Girls
- 2:30 p.m.- Class 4A Boys
Following the races, separate awards ceremonies will be held in the main gymnasium of Normal West High School, located at 501 N. Parkside Rd, Normal, IL. The schedule for the ceremonies is as follows:
- 11:30 a.m. - Class 1A
- 1:00 p.m.- Class 2A
- 2:30 p.m. - Class 3A
- 4:00 p.m.- Class 4A
There is no admission fee for spectators, and all participants in the top 25 of each race will receive a medal. Additionally, trophies will be awarded to the top four schools in each class, with every team member receiving a medal.

Complete final results for both the individuals and teams for all classes will be available from the IESA website (www.iesa.org) around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
This is the 31st year the state meet has been held at Maxwell Park in Normal. Normal Parkside JHS is the host.
