2025 IESA State Wrestling Tournament Set for March 7-8 at Northern Illinois University

The Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) is excited to announce the 44th annual Boys State Wrestling Tournament, taking place March 7-8, 2025, at the Convocation Center on the campus of Northern Illinois University. With over 600 wrestlers representing 170 schools from across the state, this year's tournament promises to be an exhilarating showcase of young athletic talent.
This marks the seventh year of the tournament's 2-class system, which divides schools based on 7-8 grade enrollment. Of the 227 schools that entered the state series, half will compete in Class A and half in Class AA.
Event Schedule:
Friday, March 7:
Doors open to the public at 10:00 AM
Wrestling begins at 11:30 AM
All wrestlers will compete in two matches
Event concludes around 7:00 PM
Saturday, March 8:
Doors open at 8:00 AM
Wrestling resumes at 9:00 AM
Semifinals begin at approximately 11:00 AM
Championship bouts kick off at 5:15 PM on four mats
Admission fees are set at $15.00 for a single day, and children below kindergarten age will be admitted free of charge. Tickets can be purchased on-site at the ticket office, which opens at 9:00 AM on Friday and 7:00 AM on Saturday, or online

We are honored to have Adam Greenberg and Branden Petersen serve as the Grand Marshals for this year's event. The previous year's champions included Vandalia in Class A and DeKalb Huntley in Class AA. Notably, Vandalia and Gibson City GCMS leads this year's Class A qualifiers with 11 wrestlers, while Homer Glen Homer boasts 16 qualifiers in Class AA.
This tournament marks the 23rd year that the Convocation Center has hosted the IESA State Wrestling Tournament, making NIU the proud venue for the event for the 27th consecutive year.
