Proposals Now Being Accepted To Host IESA State Wrestling Finals

The Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Board of Directors during its regularly scheduled meeting on September 7, 2017, approved to open up the state final hosting bid in wrestling. The state finals have been held at the Convocation Center on the campus of Northern Illinois University since 2001. The current contract with NIU expires at the end of the 2017-18 school year.

Interested parties may click here for the proposal and bid specifications. Proposals must be returned to the IESA Office no later than March 15, 2018. It is anticipated that the Board of Directors will make a decision at their regularly scheduled meeting on April 6, 2018.

"IESA and the student-athletes in the great sport of wrestling have enjoyed a very positive experience at the Convocation Center and in the city of DeKalb and by no means are we looking to leave," said IESA Executive Director Steve Endsley. "The Convocation Center has been a wonderful facility and the DeKalb schools have done a tremendous job hosting our finals. However, our Board felt it was prudent to accept bids and explore any other host interest that may exist. At the end of the day, we want to provide our schools, student-athletes, coaches and fans with the best state final wrestling experience possible."
