IESA HeadlinesCarlinville's Card Sets All-Time Girls Shot Put RecordEAST PEORIA - Kelsey Card of Carlinville set the IESA all-time record in the girls shot put and won the eighth grade girls discus Friday during the first day of the Class AA State Final Track and Field Meet at the EastSide Centre. Card bettered the shot put all-time record with her first throw of the day at 37-6.5 and topped that mark with the all-time toss of 38-4 on her second throw. The old all-time mark was 37-11.75 set by Leland's Sarah Kidd in 1987. Card came back to take the 8AA girls discus with a toss of 112-4. Carlinville had another winner in Katie Graham, who took the 8AA high jump in 5-2. Charles Pool set the 7AA boys record in the long jump with a winning leap of 20-7.50. The old 7AA boys mark was 20-4.50 by Jeremy Nicholson of East St. Louis Lincoln set in 2006. Also in Class 7AA boys, Rochester's AJ Fisher missed three times at the 7AA record of 10-9. He took first place with a winning vault of 10-6. Ryan Mitsos of New Lenox Liberty won the 8AA boys 1600-meter run in a time of 4:38.32. This past fall he was the Class AA boys state cross-country champion, and he be seeking his third distance title this school year in the 800-meter run Saturday. Stacie Hall of Braidwood Reed-Custer took the 7AA girls 1600-meter run win in a three-way battle with runner-up Carly Pederson of Normal Chiddix and Taylor Schissler of Frankfort Summit Hill. Hall fought them off in the last 10 meters to win in a time of 5:20.45. Pederson, this year's Class AA girls cross-country state champion, finished second in 5:21.92. Schissler was third in 5:21.97.
