IESA HeadlinesJim Flynn Added to IESA StaffBLOOMINGTON- The Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Board of Directors has appointed Jim Flynn as Special Projects Manager. He will begin the part-time position in early September. Flynn retired from the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) administrative staff June 30 after nearly 32 years with that organization. When the IHSA brought Flynn to its staff, he was the first state association administrator responsible primarily for sports information, public relations and marketing. Flynn developed information systems and marketing strategies that are now commonplace in state association offices across America. "We are very fortunate to have the expertise and creativity of Jim available to our Association and member schools," said IESA Executive Director Steve Endsley. "While with the IHSA, Jim was a pioneer in the field of media relations and marketing. With his background, we are looking forward to the contributions he will make to the IESA." Sponsorships and member school recruitment are among the responsibilities of the new position. In addition, Flynn will assist at IESA State Final events. The IESA office staff includes three full-time administrators and a support staff of four. The administrative staff consists of Endsley, Associate Executive Director, Nicole Schaefbauer; and Assistant Executive Director, Julie Cochran. For the 2004-05 school year, the IESA will conduct state tournaments in 11 activities for its 686 member schools; girls softball, boys baseball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys wrestling, girls volleyball, boys and girls track and field and scholastic bowl. In addition, the IESA conducts state wide contests in speech, music solo and ensemble, music organization, art, and cheerleading. |
