Highlights of the Summer 2002 Board Minutes

June 20, 2002

John Link, Superintendent at Peoria Hollis will remain as the President of the IESA Board of Directors for the 2002-03 school year. Link was re-elected to the position during the June meeting of the IESA Board of Directors. This is the third year that Link will have served as President. Other officer positions elected at the meeting were: Dr. Sue Silvey, Principal at Bloomington JHS will serve as the Vice-President and Mr. Joe Spiezio, Assistant Principal at Braidwood Reed-Custer will become the Secretary/Treasurer.

Other Highlights from the June meeting:

**Girls pole vault will become a sanctioned event for the 2003 state track and field series. Qualifying standards at starting heights still need to be determined. Schools that offer pole vault are strongly encouraged to read the information on the IESA web site about the new pole vault standards that will be going to effect.

**Any coach or player who is ejected twice during the school year for unsportsmanlike conduct must sit-out the next two contests following the second ejection.

**Girls Basketball games may now begin on Saturday of week 10 instead of Monday of week 11

**Raised the entry fees for Music Organization contests for the 2003-04 school year to $65 per entry

**Raised the entry fee for Scholastic Bowl for the 2003-04 school year to $60 and eliminated the tournament admission charge at the regional and sectional level.
