IESA HeadlinesIESA to Hold Cheerleading CompetitionJune 20, 2001 At their June 8 meeting, the Illinois Elementary School Association Board of Directors approved a plan for the IESA to hold the first ever IESA Cheerleading Championship. The event, which will be run with the assistance of the Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2001 at the Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois. The entry fee will be $30.00. Only school squads are eligible and every school which participates in the event must be a member of the IESA. There will be two divisions--a small team division for squads with 1-12 members and a large team division for squads with 13-25 members. National Federation spirit rules must be followed and the competition will be judges and conducted by staff members of the UCA. Additional information, rules, and registration forms will be mailed to all member schools in August.
