When it comes to the one thing in the world Courtney McEnery would change, she says it would be making sure every single person has a warm, safe place to sleep every night. Not only is she a huge cheerleader for that cause, she's actually one in real life, counting her team's win at the Cheerleading Nationals in Dallas, Texas as her proudest accomplishment. In the same vein, it's her cheerleading coach Laura Duesing she admires most, having cheered with her for several years and watching her sacrifice family time to help the Orland Hills Bernardin cheer squad win consecutive Large Team Routine titles at the IESA State Cheerleading Championships.

As Courtney considers her future, she says medicine or law appeal to her most. She envisions herself helping people all over the world, not just in her hometown.

Whether it's Spanish club, peer tutoring, math team, softball, or being involved in her church, Courtney hopes to use those experiences to attend Notre Dame, Stanford, or University of Illinois once she completes high school.
