Harrison Hays

Principal: Kyle Shay

Harrison Hays credits his participation in interscholastic activities with learning the importance of sportsmanship, hard work, dedication, and teamwork. His outstanding academic performance and success in his activities have led to his selection as a Scholar Attitude Award winner representing Division L. Running has been an important part of Harrison’s school experience. In fact, he’s most proud of going from receiving the Most Improved Cross Country Runner in his 7th grade year to Most Outstanding Cross Country Runner in his 8th grade year. “This was a major accomplishment,” he says. “Once I joined our cross country team I realized quickly that I needed to build up my endurance and speed and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.” Through his determination and perseverance, he lowered his times and became a leader on his team. Harrison also participates in basketball, track, and band while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. From all the activities he has participated in, Harrison has learned that maintaining a positive attitude is the secret to success. “From an athletic and academic standpoint, you can tell a lot about someone’s character from the way they handle tough situations,” he says.
