Jack CossairtWestmont JHS![]() Principal: Mr. John Jonak For his involvement in band, choir, cross country, various extracurricular activities, and in addition to his outstanding citizenship and sportsmanship, Jack Cossairt was selected as the Scholar Attitude Award winner for Board of Directors Division C.Jack has thrived at Westmont Junior High School academically with a 4.0 GPA, but the social aspect was not always easy due to an inconvenient schedule and not seeing his grade school friends very often. However, Jack was determined to turn things around. He signed up for everything he could and tried out for a variety of teams. He notes, "I didn't make every team or even like everything I tried, but I started meeting new people and gaining confidence. I found out I was really good at band. I made friends there and felt like I had a place to belong." Throughout his junior high school career, Jack is most proud of completing a full year of math during one summer. The fast-paced class would help him jump ahead in math by two years. Although there were times he felt like giving up, Jack persevered and passed the class. Currently, Jack is thriving in honors geometry. Jack hopes to continue giving back to his community in a similar fashion as his school principal and role model, Mr. Jonak. Jack notes, "As Mr. Jonak has been for me, I want to be a good example for younger people and I hope to be looked up to when I'm older." Following high school, Jack hopes to study engineering and math in college at Benedictine University, Indiana, or North Central College. He is interested in becoming a teacher and may like to work with the technology department. |
