Jordyn EadsCerro Gordo![]() Principal: Gary Page There really isn't anything Jordyn Eads can't do. You name it -- cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, track, softball, newspaper, band, Scholastic Bowl, theater, literature -- she's done it all in her three years at Cerro Gordo Middle School. And she's maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA along the way.Still, Jordyn picks her 2012 Scholar Attitude Award winner from Board of Directors Division I as her proudest moment. "I was chosen as student of the month in December," she recalls. "At the school board meeting where I was recognized for that, my principal announced that I had been chosen to represent my school with the 2012 IESA Scholar Attitude Award. It was an amazing feeling." She adds, "I really appreciate how my teachers noticed my hard work on my academics. I'm overjoyed to see how my determination in my schooling, as well as interscholastic activities, is really paying off." Jordyn doesn't plan to give up the hard work and determination any time soon. She would like to study medicine someday, with the idea of becoming a children's neurologist. "In November of 2011, I was diagnosed with an Arachnoid cyst on the lower right ventricle of my brain," she writes. "I was sent to St. Louis Children's Hospital the following week. Seeing all those children in need made me decide that I wanted to become a children's neurologist so that I can help kids just like me." Jordyn has been band president and treasurer, and she's been named student of the week three times, plus student of the year last year. She's received awards in music, art and literature, and she won her team's Hustle Award in basketball. |
