Board of Directors Meeting MinutesMinutes of Special Meeting of the Board of DirectorsAugust 24, 2021 A special meeting of the Board of Directors was held on August 24, 2021 via Zoom. The meeting was called to order by President Ingold at 2:00 p.m. The following members were present: Haupt, McAlister, Marski, Chavers, Ingold, Marquardt, Isackson, Isenhower, Vanausdoll, Drees, Duncan. Also in attendance were Nicole Schaefbauer and Chris Frasco from the IESA staff and Brian Yoder and Jeff Isenhower. Not in attendance were: Hogue, Johnson, Davis. Motion by McAlister/Chavers to approve the appointments of Mr. Brian Yoder, principal at Flanagan Junior High School to fill the Board vacancy in Division E and Mr. Jeff Isenhower, superintendent of Prairieview Ogden JHS to fill the Board Vacancy in Division K. Carried The purpose of the meeting was to address participation in the IESA State Series by schools in various levels of compliance with the state’s current Executive Order 85 mandating masks. Motion by Duncan/Vanausdoll to the following: Schools who participate in IESA softball, baseball, and golf and are currently on Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) probation for non-compliance with the state mask mandate will not be allowed to participate in the State Series for those sports. Probation schools in those sports will have until Friday, September 3rd to have their recognition status restored and regain eligibility for the IESA State Series. For those schools not in softball, baseball, or golf and on ISBE probation, they would have until the date of their roster/participant deadline as listed in the IESA standardized calendar for that activity to have their recognition restored.
Motion Carried with 1 dissenting Discussion was held concerning the wearing of face coverings at indoor state final venues/areas that were not schools. While inside these venues, students, coaches, and officials will follow CDC recommendations to wear a face covering regardless of vaccination status. For example, while in the press box at the state softball tournament, face coverings will be expected indoors. As these are school events, the Board affirmed this interpretation. There being no further business, President Ingold adjourned the meeting at 2:42 p.m. |
