Game Comments: The second quarter-final of the day saw the Monarchs of South Holland McKinley versus the Titans of El Paso-Gridley. Both teams were evenly matched throughout the first half. Both were quick on defense and did a great job cleaning up the boards. Paul Godbold scored 8 of his 12 points in the first half for the Monarchs and put McKinley up going into the half time break. The Monarchs ramped up their defense early in the third quarter causing several steals that found the Titans on their heels. Late in the third quarter, the Titans found their rhythm from behind the three-point line. Brody Duncan drained two 3-point baskets and Tyler Russell added another to help the Titans find the lead for the first time in the game. In the fourth quarter, both of the teams had their chances to clinch the win in the finals minutes of the game. With a minute left in the game, McKinley had the ball and a chance to win. The ball just bounced off the rim and the game was headed to overtime. In the overtime period, the teams put on their pressure defense and neither team scored a basket in the OT. They traded fouls. El Paso-Gridley was steady at the line and came away with the win.

Congratulations to South Holland McKinley on a tremendous season.

El Paso-Gridley moves on to the semi-final game this evening.
