The match started with the teams trading points. #8 Maddie Boucher's killer serve gave the Braves an edge, but then #25 Anna Reed for Pleasant Plains stepped up to serve 8 consecutive points to give the Cardinals the lead and then #17 Katie Calhoon gave the Cardinals 6 more points. Pleasant Plains net play was led by #15 Jenny Rush and #12 Jillian Yakel. #4 Lexie Thomas led her team on offense feeding her hitters some great sets. On the other side of the net, Boucher was able to find several kills, but didn't seem to have the same success that she found in the quarterfinal match today. In the second set, the two teams battled back and fourth until #5 Molly Smarjesse came in to serve for the Cardinals and gave the Cardinals the edge serving 3 aces and 6 consecutive points and a 23--16 lead. Congratulations to both teams on a great match. The Cardinals of Pleasant Plains will be playing for their 2nd consecutive state title on Tuesday night at 6:45.
