Game Comments: The 2nd quarterfinal game of the 7th grade 2A tournament featured the undefeated Mt. Olive Bombers vs. the Saints of Bloomington Holy Trinity. The game was close throughout as the Saints held a one point lead after the 1st quarter, 8-7, but Mt. Olive led at halftime by one, 20-19. The Bombers led by just two heading into the final period, 25-23. The 4th period belonged to Jill Niehaus of Mt. Olive. Niehaus scored 14 of her game high 22 points in the final stanza as she and her teammates held on for a hard-fought 41-37 victory. With the win, Mt. Olive (25-0) will now face Mendon Unity (26-0) in a monster match-up in the semifinals at 5:00 p.m. later today. Both teams are undefeated and one will play in Thursday's championship game and the other will take one loss into the 3rd place game. Holy Trinity finishes an outstanding season at 22-3. Congratulations to both teams. |
