Game Comments: The Championship game was an epic battle. The Wildcats of Normal Metcalf took on the Wildcats of Decatur Robertson. Both teams matched up well and got out to an aggressive start. Decatur Robertson established a lead coming out of the first quarter behind the sharp-shooting of Amir Brummett who hit 10 of his 23 points. The Wildcats of Normal didn't lose focus. They matched up their quickness and scored off of fast-break opportunities and great rebounding. The game was even as the teams went in at the half. In the second half, Normal Metcalf pulled ahead with a balanced scoring effort. In the fourth quarter, the Wildcats of Decatur made some clutch free-throws to pull ahead of Metcalf behind the steady hand of Amir Brummett. As the seconds ticked off the clock, Normal Metcalf brought the ball up the floor behind by 3 points. Ryan Jacob put up a 3 point shot that found the bottom of the basket just as the horn went off. In the overtime period, Decatur Robertson did a better job of cleaning up the boards. This made the difference early in the OT. As time ticked off, the Wildcats of Decatur sealed the victory at the free-throw line. This is back-to-back state championships for the Wildcats of Decatur Robertson. Amir Brummett led Decatur Robertson with 23 points. Doug Holmes led Normal Metcalf with 18 points.

Congratulations to both teams on tremendous seasons.
