Game Comments: In the final quarterfinal matchup the Celtics of Elmwood Park St. Celestine vs. the Vikings of Peoria St. Vincent de Paul. St. Celestine took and early lead and held the Vikings to 3 points in the first quarter but Peoria St. Vincent de Paul came roaring back in the second quarter to cut the lead going into the half. #25 John Epley had 10 of his game high 22 points in the second quarter.
The Vikings outscored the Celtics again in the 3rd quarter, but the early lead helped the Celtics stay in the game. #44 Jonathon Hamilton kept plugging away under the basket and added 6 points to his overall total of 19. In the fourth quarter both teams fought hard through the end of the game. With 2.9 seconds, the Vikings were down 3 with the ball. Great clock management gave them a shot to tie the game, but the inbounds pass sailed out of the hands of Jake Manning and the Celtics took home the win. This was a hard fought game by both teams. Congratulations to both teams on their season and good luck to the Celtics in the rest of the tournament. |
