Game Comments: In what was easily the best quarterfinal game of the day Tolono Unity outlasted Glasford Illini Bluffs, 40-36 and will now play in the second semifinal game of the day. The contest was nip and tuck all game long as the Tigers jumped out to a 11-7 first quarter lead only to see the Rockets come back to tie it at 19 all at halftime. Illini Bluffs looked like they would take a one point lead heading into the 4th quarter but JT Wheeler made a 24 footer as time expired in the 3rd quarter to give Unity a two point lead at 31-29 heading into the final stanza. Wheeler's three pointer seemed to give Unity a much needed lift as they scored a couple baskets early in the 4th period and held a five point lead for much of the 4th quarter. Illini Bluffs never gave up and when Lance Crisp nailed a 3 pointer with 8 seconds to go, the lead was down to two at 38-36. Illini Bluffs fouled Lucas Tay with six seconds remaining. Tay, who had not scored all game, went to the line for the one and bonus. He nailed both free throws which sealed the victory for the Rockets over the previously undefeated Tigers. Free throws were a part of the story for Illini Bluffs as they were only able to connect on five of their 13 attempts. Unity will now face Burr Ridge in the second semifinal game at 6:30 later today. Illini Bluffs fnishes the season with 25 wins and one loss while Tolono will take a 19-8 record into their semifinal game. Congratulations to both teams.
