Game Comments: Burr Ridge Middle School squared off against Piasa Southwestern in the third quarterfinal game of the 2013 7th grade boys basketball tournament and the Chieftains were victorious with a 58-45 decision over the Piasa Birds. Burr Ridge will take their 19-3 record into the second semifinal game around 6:30 p.m. later today and will play the winner of the Glasford Illini Bluffs/Tolono Unity game. Burr Ridge was led in scoring by Joffari Brown with 24 points while Korvante Davis chipped in with 21 points. The Chieftains were in control for almost all of the game as they were able to answer every time Southwestern made a bit of a run. Leading the way for Piasa was the sparkling play of Justin Bailey who led all scorers with 26 points. However, the closest Southwestern could get was six points in the 4th quarter when they trailed 49-43 with about 4 minutes to go. Burr Ridge outscored Piasa 9-2 the rest of the way to seal the victory. Congratulations to both teams.
