Joliet Laraway scored the first 12 points of the game before Marseilles Milton Pope got its first points on a layup by Michael Taylor with 0:14 left in the opening quarter. Marseilles Milton Pope cut its deficit to 16-9 on a layup from Jensen Bryant midway through the second quarter, but Joliet Laraway got to a 24-14 halftime lead on a jumper from Jonah Coble at the end of the second quarter. Marseilles Milton Pope made a run late in the fourth quarter to cut a 36-28 deficit after three quarters to 37-35 with 3:50 to go in the game when Martin Myre powered in a layup from underneath.
