Game Comments: Dieterich Starters: 32, 33, 43, 45, 50. Marseilles Milton Pope Starters: 10, 13, 20, 44, 53. Marseilles Milton Pope came out of the blocks smoking and grabbed a 7-0 lead and eventually led 14-4 after the first quarter. Peyton Schrag led the Pilots with six points in the first quarter and four more in the second. But Dieterich's Dalton Hinterscher exploded in the second quarter making three three-pointers, three two-pointers and one free throw for 16 of the Roadrunners' 18 points. It was a 16-4 Marseilles Milton Pope lead early in the second quarter and then 17-9. Hinterscher hit a trey with 3:49 left to cut the deficit to 17-12. He got another trey to make it 19-15 and the third one with 0:38 left to cut the deficit to 23-20. With 0:22 left Hinterscher scored on a layup for the 23-22 halftime deficit. The lead changed hands three times to start the third quarter and Dieterich went ahead 26-25 with 4:10 to go in the third quarter on a pair of free throws from Brandon Westjohn. With the score tied at 32, a technical foul was called on Milton Pope and Dieterich got a pair of free throws from Brandon Westjohn, one free throw out of two attempts from Dalton Hinterscher, and then took the ball out.Dieterich did not score on the possession and led 35-32. Dieterich held the lead the rest of the game and a layup by Dalton Hinterscher put the lead at 41-35. The teams traded baskets and with 1:02 to go in the game Dieterich's Andrew Hall made one of two free throws for a 46-42 lead. Then Milton Pope's Jensen Bryant hit from the baseline with 0:53 left to cut the deficit to 46-44. With 0:44 left Milton Pope's Michael Taylor canned a pair of free throws. At 0:33 Dieterich's Taner Traub made a layup, was fouled, and missed the free throw for a 48-46 lead. Then with 0:10 left Milton Pope's Trent Nugent swished a three-pointer from the right of the circle for the victory.
