Alex Heyen

Principal: Nichole Heyen
Alex Heyen is from Springfield Lincoln Magnet School and is a dynamic leader who enjoys working with others. Alex has participated all three years in five, IESA activities each year while maintaining a 4.0 grade point average, all in advanced courses. He’s a member of the cross country team, baseball team, basketball team, scholastic bowl team and track team. He serves as captain on multiple teams and his leadership and positive work ethic has helped him develop the skills necessary to advance to state in three of the five sports. Alex made his first state appearence in the IESA baseball series where he scored the first ever run for Lincoln Magnet School at a state baseball game. Alex has also advanced to state in cross country and basketball. “Being able to advance through each regional and sectional game with my teammates was amazing. Each member had something unique to help us advance together. After a difficult 2 years, being able to play sports, even with restrictions, is something that kept so many of us motivated and gave us the opportunity to develop as leaders.” Alex is also an active member of a school service learning organization, BETA Club, serving as President, where he focuses on improving his community. In BETA, Alex has advanced to nationals for technology, leadership and innovative design. Alex is also involved in Jazz Band, is a member of the All City Advanced Band, was selected for ILMEA and is a WEB Leader and AVID Scholar.
