Game Comments: Champaign St. Matthew was slow to start the game and Lexington came out and fired up 13 points in the 1st quarter but the Raiders hung in there and kept the game close. In the 3rd quarter the roles were reversed and The Raiders outscored the Minutemen 13-5. They went 4-6 from the line with three 2's and 1 three point basket for a 5 point lead in the 3rd quarter. With a minute to play in the game Lexington was ahead 31-29. St. Matthew brought the ball up the court and got a look but wasn't able to sink it. Fighting for the rebound the ball went off a Lexington player to give the Raiders another chance with 30 seconds to play. On the in-bounds play #1 Matt Restad got a look at an open three and drained it to take the lead 32-31. Lexington didn't get a good look and ended up fouling #1 for a 1-1. Restad made both give Champaign a 3 point lead with 22.7 seconds to play. Lexington brought the ball up the court and got two looks at the basket when #51 Christopher Collins-Terry was fouled behind the line with 2.1 seconds. He was unable to make the first two free throws and tried to bank the third for a last second shot, but it didn't hit the rim so the ball went to St. Matthew. The Raiders play in the 6:30 semifinal game vs. St. Agnes. Leading scorer for the game was #51 Christopher Collins-Terry with 16 points. Congratulations to both teams on a great season. |
