| Match Comments: Game 1 -- Three straight power kills by Mary Rankin moved Hartsburg-Emden from a 17-11 lead to a 20-11 margin that Bowen Southeastern could not counter. Mary Rankin had 8 kills in the game. Game 2 -- Hartsburg-Emden's servers warmed up and put Bowen Southeastern back on its heels. Sydni Rohlfs opened the game serving for five straight points. Then Jessie Eeten got a pair of aces. Allie Shoultz served for points 10-13. Mary Rankin followed serving points 15-18 and Alli Watts served points 20-23. Hartsburg-Emden's Sydni Rohlfs got back-to-back blocks to give the Stags a 21-5 lead and the match was history. The title was the second straight in eighth grade Class 1A for the Stags, whose seventh grade team did the same thing this year. |
