| Game Comments: Canton Ingersoll finished a dream season with a 31-18 victory over Frankfort Summit Hill and in doing so completed their 2013 season with an undefeated record of 26-0. Summit Hill suffered their only loss of the season in the championship game and finished their season at 26-1. The first half of the game was very different as Summit Hill held Canton scoreless in the first quarter and led 8-0 after the first stanza. However, Canton came right back in the second quarter and held Summit Hill scoreless in the second period as they outscored the Spartans 5-0 to trail by three, 8-5 at halftime. The second half was all Little Giants. Summit Hill scored the first four points of the third quarter and led 12-5. The teams then traded baskets and with 2:42 remaining in the third quarter, Summit Hill led, 14-7. Canton then blitzed the Spartans with a 15-0 run highlighted by back-to-back three point field goals by Sophie Oaks and Nico Grisolano. The three pointer by Grisalano gave Canton their first lead of the game at the 1:32 mark of the 3rd quarter. Cassidy Fawcett then scored eight consecutive points for Canton including a three pointer to start the 4th quarter that gave Ingersoll the lead at 22-14. Hannah Stewart for Summit Hill finally scored for the Spartans with five minutes left in the game to cut the lead to six, 22-16. Fawcett then added a layup and two free throws to give the Little Giants a 10 point lead at 26-16 and when Oaks added a layup with 3:30 left, the Little Giants led 28-16 and were well on their way to the undefeated season and the 7th grade Class 4A championship. Fawcett led all scorers with 16 points while Kale Sheehan led Summit Hill with 8 points. Congratulations to both teams. |
