| Game Comments: The game was close for all four quarters. The undefeated Senators of Dirksen held the lead for most of the game on the play of point guard #3 Ciara Mays. Seven of Ciara's 11 points came in the first half and the biggest lead of the game for Dirksen was four points at halftime. But Peotone never gave up. Early in the fourth quarter they took the lead for the first time 19-18 and battled to keep it. #4 Calla Hilliard made two key free throws to give Peotone a three point lead late in the game, but the senators drove down the court and Ciara Mays made a crucial 2 point basket with seconds to go. Peotone inbounded the ball and was able to keep it away from Dirksen and time ran out on the clock. The Blue Devils of Peotone will play in the semifinal game tonight at 5:00. Leading scorers for both teams were #3 Ciara Mays with 11 points for Dirksen and #3 Dani Benninghoff with 6 points for the Blue Devils. Congratulations to both teams and good luck to the Blue Devils. |
